SCPN Reactor Systems

One research group stewards the reactor-family portfolio: SCPN-Fusion-Core as the solver laboratory, a shared kernel library, and twenty device-family cores, each the single owner of one reactor family’s configuration truth. Every materially distinct reactor family has its own core; families group configurations only when they share governing physics, driver, lifecycle and control boundary. The device cores are at computational-prototype maturity, two reserved extension repositories at architecture-only: closed-form device physics on declared operating points, no releases, no demos and no readiness claims.

Each family has its own portal: the physics every core in it implements, an explorer that reproduces the cores’ printed anchors, one page per device configuration, a glossary and the sources. Read the plasma physics introduction first if the vocabulary is new.

Six family portals

Closed magnetic confinement

Toroidal devices that hold the plasma on closed magnetic surfaces. 5 device cores.

Open and non-toroidal magnetic confinement

Mirror, magnetic-cusp and levitated-dipole configurations with open field lines. 3 device cores.

Self-magnetic and pulsed pinches

Devices where the driving current itself confines the plasma. 3 device cores.

Inertial confinement

Laser-, beam- and impact-driven compression of fusion targets. 3 device cores.

Magneto-inertial and magnetised-target systems

Compression of magnetised targets by liners, plasma jets or FRC collisions. 4 device cores.

Electrostatic, beam-target and hybrid systems

Inertial-electrostatic wells, colliding beams and fusion–fission hybrids. 3 device cores.

Across the families: every level-0 anchor of every core side by side, with the status each core records.

22 of the 25 repositories carry a capability inventory: 20 at computational prototype, 2 at architecture only; 16 with 5 implemented capabilities, 2 with 3 implemented capabilities, 2 with 2 implemented capabilities, 2 with 0 implemented capabilities. Capabilities: config = device configuration model, clock = diagnostic and clock semantics, physics = level-0 device physics, 3D = device 3D model, CAD = device CAD model. The badges are read from each repository’s own capability-inventory.json at generation time; the family pages print the same line per core.
